Terms of Use

1. What the Hero app is
Hero.events (the “Hero app”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Hero.events and provides an online marketplace where employers (“Employers”) post short-term tasks and job seekers (“Heroes”) apply for them. We introduce the parties. We are not the employer of any Hero, and we are not a party to the arrangement between an Employer and a Hero. In these Terms, “Hero” or “Heroes” means job seekers, and our platform is called the “Hero app”.
2. Who can use the Hero app
You must be at least 16 years old to register as a Hero. If you are a Hero, you must be legally allowed to work in Brunei Darussalam (for example a citizen, permanent resident, or a foreign national holding the required pass or permit), and Employers must check that anyone they engage is legally allowed to do the work. Provide true and current information and keep your password private. One person, one account.
3. Employers’ responsibilities
Employers are solely responsible for engaging Heroes lawfully, including: agreeing pay, hours and duties clearly in writing; paying the agreed wages on time and in full; complying with the Employment Order 2009 and related regulations where they apply (including any applicable minimum wage and contributions such as SPK for citizens and permanent residents); providing a safe workplace under the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009; not employing anyone who lacks the required work authorisation; and not discriminating unlawfully. Wages are paid directly by the Employer to the Hero — The Hero app does not collect, hold or pay wages.
3A. Workers aged 16–17
Heroes aged 16 or 17 may apply for tasks only after a parent or legal guardian has signed our consent form and we have verified it. Employers may mark a task “18 and above” (for example night work, hazardous work or long hours), and such tasks are closed to Heroes under 18. The employer acknowledges and agrees that for workers aged 16–17, the employer is responsible for ensuring compliance with Brunei labor laws (including restrictions on night work, hazardous operations, and maximum daily working hours). The platform acts solely as a venue and holds no liability for task allocation outside legal limits.
4. Heroes’ responsibilities
Apply only for tasks you intend to do, turn up on time, and be honest about your skills. Never pay anyone to obtain a task. Confirm pay, hours, place and duties with the Employer before you start. You are responsible for any taxes, contributions or permits that apply to you.
5. Tasks and content
A task may run for up to 30 days from its start date; it can be renewed. Tasks must be lawful and accurately described. Not allowed: illegal activity, scams, anything requiring a Hero to pay money upfront, adult or gambling work, or content that is misleading, offensive or infringes others’ rights. We may remove any task or content and suspend or close any account, with or without notice, where we reasonably suspect a breach of these Terms, the law, or a risk to others.
6. Fees
Posting a task costs a flat listing fee, currently BND 10.00 per task, unless a promo code or offer applies. The fee is charged by us for listing the task; it is not wages and is generally not refundable once the task is live, except where we decide otherwise or the law requires. Heroes use the Hero app free of charge. Online payments are processed by a third-party payment provider; we do not store card details.
7. Completing a task
When a task ends, the Employer should mark it done and may rate the Heroes. If the Employer does not do so, the task is marked done automatically three days after its end date so that accepted Heroes are credited with the completed job. A Hero who believes a task was misdescribed or unpaid should use the Report button or contact us; we may take action on accounts but we do not guarantee payment or resolve wage disputes, which are between the Employer and the Hero (and may be referred to the Labour Department or the courts).
8. Ratings, levels and verification
Jobs-done counts, ratings and levels are generated by the platform from completed tasks and employer reviews. A “Verified” badge means we reviewed details you supplied; it is not a guarantee or endorsement. Reviews must be honest and respectful.
9. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms or raise safety concerns, and may keep the email address, phone number and name of a closed account on a blocklist to prevent re-registration. You may delete your own account at any time from Account.
10. Privacy
How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
11. Liability
The Hero app is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the acts or omissions of Employers or Heroes, for tasks, injuries, losses or disputes arising between them, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms; continued use means you accept the updated Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of Brunei Darussalam and the courts of Brunei Darussalam have jurisdiction.
